The Roeberts began making their painted cloths in South Africa in 1988. The African technique of batik uses a flour & water paste for the resist and has been used for decorating fabric for centuries. The paste is applied to form outlines of the design then fabric paints are applied and after sun drying, the piece is washed. 100% cotton twill is used and is suitable for framing or hanging.
