There are over 600,000
Chokwe members of the tribe, of
which about 200,000 are
Congolese and the others live in Angola.
Their art is the best known of all
Central African styles. This whistle
would belong to a hunter and
is used to communicate with his
companions and dogs. The
whistle would hang from a cord.
The face portrays an elderly
bearded man.
