An old well used Ethiopian head rest with attached oxidized silver or white metal beads and dangles.
In many African cultures, small wooden headrests or "pillows" are used to support the head during sleep and also to preserve their elaborate hair styles. In Ethiopia, the headrests are carved in a variety of forms, but this one is exquisitely decorated.
