Iron, wood and old coins.
The wooden stick holds a set number of old one half or tenth-penny coins, usually from British West Africa, with 6-pointed stars and King George VI’s name.
They were recognized and used as currency and could be broken up and traded for smaller transactions.
The attached coins date from the 1950’s and earlier.
Height: 13 3/4" x width: 2 1/8" x depth: 1/2".
height on custom base is 15 7/16" - base is 3" wide x 2" deep.
