The Kuba complex of people live inland, far from the ocean and the source of the cowrie shell, so such adornments were worn as status symbols and a sign of rank.
Adornment itself is 2" x 2".
14 ½" from end-to-end, and 9 ½" from top-to-bottom.
We added a lovely copper clasp.
