Turkana jugs or vessels, are traditional, hand-carved wooden or sometimes even skin containers from northwest Kenya used by the nomadic Turkana people for camel or goat milk. They are durable, often adorned with a leather strap for easy transport, and reflect a functional yet artistic, pastoral lifestyle. The darkened areas are burnt in.
Similar vessels were used by peoples in their area, like the Pokot.
