Seafoam green old opaque Vaseline beads with sterling silver clasp, and center and spacer beads.
Originally created in Czechoslovakia, Bohemian Vaseline beads are distinguished by their faceted and typically bicone shape. Most commonly found in transparent green and red, Vaseline beads in this opaque shade of green are exceedingly hard to find these days and are found almost exclusively in Mali, west Africa, where they were used for trade. Each late 19th century bead measures approximately 5-12 x 9-16mm with a hole size of approximately 1-2mm.
The center bead is totally covered with small balls, this technique is known as "carpet granulation."
The necklace measures 17 ¾" from end-to-end or 8" from top-to-bottom.
