Standing Male Power Figure - Mbala People, D.R. Congo - CGM28

Very similar in style to figures of this type from the neighboring Suku people.
The Mbala produce a red pigment, called tukula, from which their name, "the red people" is derived.

A symbol of the chief’s authority and part of ancestor worship, it inspired powerful evocation of the clan’s female founder, the true force of nature.
