We love the shiny patina on spoon from so much use.
The word ‘Lozi’ means 'plain' in the Makololo language which referencse the Barotse Floodplain of the Zambezi River, which is where most of the Lozi live. Somehow, they are referred to by some as the Barotse.
The Lozi are noted for their utilitarian onjects, such as carved spoons, stools and exquisite wooden bowls. Spoon size and form follow function. From tiny snuff spoons, to eating spoons to large serving spoons and ladles, this wooden spoon would have been used for stirring their daily staple food: porridge. Others spoons would have been reserved for special ceremonial occasions.
