These contoured anklets were typically worn by women during special ceremonies. They served as ornamental adornments, symbols of wealth and social status and forms of currency. Anklets, along with a variety of other types of objects were used as currency in Africa. They show signs of great age with their verdigris patina. They were hinged with iron pins at the end of the anklet.

Vary in size from 5 5/8” x 3 1/4” - 3 1/2” x 2 1/4”
