Probably from an ornate belt (Nkody Mupaap) belonging to a Kuba king or his immediate family, worn as small, hanging pendants. These charms or ornaments are intricately embellished with glass beads, shells, and a duiker horn.
The Kuba complex of people live inland, far from the ocean and the source of the, so such adornments were worn as status symbols and a sign of rank.
The horn is 3", the shell is 1 ½" and the are 3 ¾" beaded beads.
