Despite its formidable appearance, it was
generally not intended as a battlefield weapon.
Instead, it functioned as
a prestige object, ceremonial knife, a form of wealth or currency and a
symbol of authority and status. Ownership of such a blade signified social standing and economic power.
It has a large, fan-shaped and heavy iron pommel. The solid iron pommel
rendered the knife unbalanced and unsuitable for use.

It is made with iron, wood and copper wire.
