This was handmade with a heavily decorated forged iron blade with an artistically designed and embellished wooden handle.
It was more than just a weapon, it was an insignia of prestige.
Some of the engravings were done on the heated blade. In contrast, the ones that run along the whole length were made with a sharp metallic tool on the cold blade.
The original sheath or scabbard is made from wood covered in leather and has a rounded shape at the bottom.
They called this weapon
"Mbeeli ya Phoko".
