The word mancala comes from the Arabic
word ‘naqala’ meaning literally "moved." It is
believed to be one of the oldest games in
history. The game can be played on a
wooden board or, more often, in holes dug
into the ground. There are many types of
mancala games but they all involve counting
seeds (or pebbles etc) and capturing others.
We have a few of the African rules included - (Egyptian, Ethiopian and Nigerian).
