This necklace incorporates eight 6 layer Chevron trade beads. The Chevron bead is considered the king of beads. These highly coveted beads are named for the repeated ‘V’ shape pattern on its ends.
They are separated by cobalt blue annular wound beads, sometimes called Dutch Donut beads, and are associated with the Dogon people, as they were used as currency to trade with them.
The central bead is a whitish opaque bead also associated with the Dogon from Mali.
It measures 18" from end to end, or 8 ½" from top to bottom.
It weighs 3.69 ounces, or 104.61 grams.
