Used by the Lobi people in Burkina Faso,
these coiled iron snakes were used & recognized as
currency for transactions. They would also tie
them to their calves to protect them from snake
bites and lightning. The snake is associated with
the Lobi mythical beings which protects clan
members from various diseases.
