Many find that the sculpture reflects an interior calm. The swelling belly and navel are a sign of family and continuity, with the hands embracing & protecting it.
These figures do not represent an individual, but reflect on family & lineage. A figure can refer to a certain generation or an entire geneology.

Chiefs may have 3 or 4 figures to represent his connection to a great family. Per Marc Felix, only a handful of these figures exist and that the figure represents a dwarf. Some restoration work done.
