The Mumuye hand-forged and twisted
 iron bars together. According to Roberto Ballarini, author 
of ‘The Perfect Form’  the flattened appendages were 
reminiscent of antelope horns. These currencies were 
sometimes worn as jewelry, and also served as dowry 
and a form of currency in the pre-colonial era.
