No one is really sure of the origin of the Moon Trade Beads, with some saying they were made in Murano (Venice), or the Netherlands, Germany, or even Bohemia, although we believe they were from Murano, since opalescent glass beads were first made here in the late 1600's.
They were traded into west Africa, and are hard to come by. We collected this strand ourselves in Mali.
The approximately 83 beads are between ¼" - ½" in size and is a long strand - 32".
