Fossil - North Africa

$85.00
Not our area at all, but we acquired this through the Ambassador Allen Davis collection, which had amazing African art pieces, and this beautiful fossil too.
We reached out to several natural history museums, and other experts in this field. We did get feedback like it looks like burrows from an animal, or it could be crinoids and crinoid stems. Crinoids are basically sea lillies, which are sea creatures that are related to starfish and sea urchins. From the Paleozoic and Mesozoic oceans over 300 million years ago.
The slab, probably limestone, offers an interesting snapshot of an ancient marine environment!
Doing a Google lens search, it said that it appears to be a type of oyster (Loofa or Ostrea), and the Atlas mountain region in North Africa is known as a source for such fossils.

it is 2" in height
Almost square - 4 ½" x 5".
