The Namji people are well known for their wooden dolls carved with exaggerated features and adorned with
multi-colored necklaces.
The Namji dolls are among some
of the finest dolls in Africa. The young women used dolls to ensure
fertility, prevent morning sickness, & provide for easy childbirth.
They were carried on the person or kept within the home or in a
shrine.
