The prevailing concept of the male African has always been that of a man armed with spear, shield, bow & arrow. However, a closer examination of the African and his culture reveals a multitude of other weapons which have been developed. Despite the primitive technology most of these weapons excel in terms of quality, design & function. The encroachment of modern civilization in many parts of Africa has not destroyed the old way of life or its customs, for traditional weapons can still be found in remote parts of the continent. Theoretically, weapon designs are related to specific tribes, but since a well-forged weapon is a desired item of trade, the same designs can be found among neighboring tribes.
