This Kirdi beaded waist ornament from Northern
Cameroon is composed of brightly colored glass beads arranged in
geometric patterns, with dangling cowrie shells along its lower edge.
Worn around the waist or hips, it served as both personal adornment
and ceremonial attire, with the shells producing sound and movement
during traditional dances and celebrations.
