The doll-makers (of various ethnic groups of
South Africa) feel uplifted, hopeful & enthusiastic as their beadwork
provides a source of income as well as a way to connect with their
cultural roots. You can feel the spirit of the women in every doll they
make!
The women are able to work from home which allows them
to look after their families. This community project has grown considerably since its inception & has been a resounding success.
The
women have a tremendous sense of pride as their beautifully
beaded dolls enchant people world-wide including a sell-out show
at Sotheby's of London.
