The Dogon live in the remote Bandiagara cliffs. They have a very complex cosmology and are known for their incredible masks and sculptures. Sculptures are important in their everyday life. Both their making & purpose have symbolic mean- ing. Sculptures are kept in houses, sanctuaries or by the Hogon (spiritual leader). Gesture is one of the most enigmatic features of Dogon sculpture, which depicts figures with raised arms, arms crossed over torso, hands covering eyes, and a variety of other postures.
