Kenya's soapstone is found in the
highlands of the Kisii district Western Kenya.
The artisans produce each piece of art without
the assistance of any mechanical device.
Excavation of the raw quarry stone, carving and
polishing the piece are all
done manually. Each work of art is individual
and a reflection of the artists' creativity and
ingenuity.
The one we have left, as photographed, has 2 minor bumps on the base on one side.
Dimensions: 8" in Height x 7" in width, x 2 1/16" in depth.
