The Kuba people in D.R. Congo are known for their unique textiles. Raffia fibers are peeled from the leaves of the raffia palm and most often dyed with natural pigments. These long "skirts" are made of long lengths of the raffia fabric adorned with applique, piece-work, embroidery, and/or shells.
Note: We have about 30 of the long skirts in our inventory, many of them too long to photograph for the web, but we would be happy to send images to qualified inquiries.
