Description: These elliptical shields were used by the Bantu
peoples from the regions of the Great Lakes - Victoria, Edward,
Kivu and Tanganyika. Bantu societies are located on the borders
of Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and the Dem. Republic of Congo.
These shields are made with a wooden core-structure, covered
in a weave of plant fibers and are characteristically given a
central protrusion, or boss.
