Artist: David Mushonga
Artist Bio: David Mushonga is born on the 15 November 1953.
He is the fifth son of Kaseke Mushonga of the Moyondizvo totem
of the Zezuru tribe that originated from Murewa. He started stone
sculpting part-time in 1987 then in 1996 he became a full-time
His works have been widely exhibited throughout Europe, and to a
lesser extent the U.S.A. In 1987 David began exhibiting his works in
the National Gallery of Zimbabwe for the annual Heritage Exhibition.
That same year he had a piece chosen for a traveling art show of
Shona stone sculpture at the invitation of UNESCO, which had major
exhibitions in Belgrade, Berlin, Bonn, Bucharest, Budapest, London,
New York, Paris, The Hague, Sofia, & Prague.
David is married to three wives and is the father of seven children.
