Wood, covered in a brass sheet metal.
The Kota create stylistically unique reliquary figures called 'mbulu-ngulu'.
Like the Fang, the Kota keep the remains of their ancestors in containers, which consist of a basket surmounted by the carved figure.
Such figures are believed to ward off supernatural intervention.
The figure is brought out occasionally with the villagers gathered to renew the villagers strength with that of their ancestors.
Dimensions: 21 1/4" H Note, due to the base on this piece being so eroded, we do not recommend having this piece mounted to a stand, rather hang it on the wall.
