VIGANGO (plural) KIKANGO (Singular) is the commemorative
sculpture of the Mijikenda of Kenya.
Vigango were seen to have aesthetic &
practical value, to evoke respect, and to
be linked in various ways to social & religious life.
Kikango is a memorial post
placed for the spirit of a deceased person
(Koma) rather than a tombstone. The post
is not erected at the grave nor at the time
of their burial.
