Superbly decorated. The container comprises a tall section of hollow bamboo that has a natural closure at one end and is open at the other.
Such a container might have served various uses including for the storage of powdered lime used with betel nut.
In the Melanesia region and other parts of Asia, it was a common practice to chew betel nuts as a narcotic, and the preparation usually required in flavoring the seed with powdered lime along with additional spices. These carved bamboo containers were used to carry the powdered lime.
