This stool is from the Gurage people of Ethiopia.
Stools in Africa are symbolic of status, and

the chief and the council of elders.
This piece is carved from a single piece of wood and has brass embellishments on the seat. The stool is a beautiful utilitarian piece of art, which can also be used for sitting.
