Born in 1932, Akuda came from
Zambia in 1949 when his family came
to Zimbabwe. In 1967 he began
by quarrying stone for other
sculptors. However, after being
encouraged he tried his hand at
sculpting. Akuda
has a very pleasing, distinctive
style-curved & rounded elements
showing a pleasing naturalism.
His work often reflects a sense of
humor and in his lifetime Akuda exhibited
internationally and received
world-wide acclaim.
The small sculpture entitled "Choir Boy" measures 2 ¼" in height by 1 ⅜" in width, by 2 ½" in depth.
