Konga Legband (#5)- Kutu, Mongo, Konda & Kota Peoples - D.R. Congo - Sold
Cast by expert blacksmiths, these extraordinary legbands were worn by rich
women as a sign of nobility. Due to their
weight, they were worn with a ring of
plant fibers inside the legband to protect
their ankles. In 1900, twenty of these
currency anklets would secure a bride.
