The Ithunga is a tall narrow vessel which was used by the Zulu as a milking pail. The lugs on the side are for carrying, and for gripping with the thighs when squatting down to milk the cow. The pail was hollowed out by making a series of holes with a red-hot poker. Height: 16 1/2" Diameter: 5 3/4"
