VERDITE - called the Green Stone of Africa
is a semi-precious stone and
occurs among some of the oldest
rocks in the world, dating back over
3500 million years. Because there
is only one known deposit in Zim
babwe and no other deposit of
comparable quality anywhere in the
world, verdite artworks have the
double attraction of beauty & in
trinsic value. Because it is a quickly
diminishing resource, the passage
of time can only enhance this
attraction. Verdite has only been
found in very close proximity to
gold. Rare and beautiful, verdite
occurs in a variety of changing pat
terns & shades ranging from gold
en browns to rich emerald greens
& blues. In powdered form, it has
been said that witchdoctors use the
verdite to induce fertility.
