Kenya's soapstone is found in the highlands of the Kisii district Western Kenya. The artisans produce each piece of art without the assistance of any mechanical device. Excavation of the raw quarry stone, carving, polishing, painting and etching are all done manually.

This soapstone vase is in the form of an abstract human face. Simple and elegant.
