Kenya's soapstone is found in the highlands of the Kisii district of Western Kenya. The artisans produce each piece of art without the assistance of any mechanical device. Excavation of the raw quarry stone, carving, polishing, painting, and etching the piece are all done by hand. Each work of art is an individual reflection of the artists' creativity and ingenuity.

This evocative container features a lid with a horn shaped handle attached by a red leather cord. The piece measures 9" tall and 4" in diameter.
