Ancestor Totem by Sample Kafara - SOLD

Price: $0.00

SOLD!! Sample Kafara was born in Zimbabwe in 1968, the son of immigrants from Mozambique. Encouraged by the famous sculptor Bernard Matemera, Kafara began sculpting at the age of 19, and has since developed his own distinctive style. Working primarily in hard black serpentine, Kafara's sculptures are considered semiabstract and have been described as "the stylistic work of a third generation (Shona) sculptor and exquisite in its carving". In the last several years, Kafara's work has been included in international group exhibits; most recently in Holland at the Kasteel Groeneveld in Baarn. His sculpture "Adam & Eve" was featured in the prestigious 1995 "Shades of Africa" Calendar. This piece, "Ancestor Totem", is typical of the artist's work and has a peaceful zen-like quality. It is suitable for indoor or outdoor display. 27.5"H x 14"W SOLD!!
