This amazing piece of currency from Papua New Guinea consists of shells, fiber, and part of a boar's tusk. It measures 9"H (on stand) x 6.5" W x 5"D.
Used as currency for exchange during wealth,payback,brideprice ceremonies. Worn during singsing (dances) and ceremonies,usually by women. Traded into the highlands from the coastal people. These shells are treasured. From the Waghi Valley peoples of Papua New Guinea.
