"Mask Spirit" is a compact, yet powerful masterpiece of quality and design by the Master Sculptor, Nicholas Mukomberanwa. Sculpted of Springstone, this piece is what you'd expect from an early classic Nicholas. Authentically detailed with legendary quality, "Mask Spirit" will exceed your expectations.
Nicholas Mukomberanwa is an icon without equal in Zimbabwe stone sculpture and his death in early 2003 shocked the international art world. Nicholas gained remarkable success both locally and internationally and his work was the subject of a multitude of exhibitions worldwide. Nicholas however always remained true to himself, with a humble, determined strength of character that surely defined his work. Nicholas was a deeply spiritual man, and a visit to his farm in Ruwa, Zimbabwe would inevitably lead to a conversation about marriage, life, religion, art, trees, children, and love. Nicholas would always shy away from discussing price, usually leaving the business of art to one of his many talented sons, most of whom are also sculptors. Nicholas is buried outside his home in Ruwa, next to the graves of his wife Grace and his sons Nicholas and Anderson.
