H:15" W:2" "From an early age, I've had a deep appreciation for customs, folklore and ceremony. Over the years, I've been fortunate to experience many African cultural performances that proved to have a favorable and lasting impact on my life. My identity as an artist evolved fom the desire to create forms that celebrate african spirit, combining self-expression with the influences of a cultural heritage. Originally inspired by 'Vigango', the commemorative wooden posts found throughout Eastern Africa; my sculptures incorporate the use of elongated bodies with natural- istic and irregular designs. Raku clay, mudcloth and other medioms are all hand-crafted together to create these folk-dolls."
