Phurba Ritual Dagger - Tibet -SOLD

Price: $0.00

The Phurba, a magic dart or dagger, is used in Tibetan Buddhist tantric rituals for the symbolic slaying of demons and negativity. The phurba is also used to pin down the ego, attachment to which is one of the primary obstacles to enlightenment. Made of wood or metal, phurbas are often embellished with symbols, deities and animals. A hand holding a severed head represents the cutting away of earthly attachments. A wrathful deity, Phurbakila, often sits atop the dagger. In Tibetan Buddhism, wrathful deities are not demonic, but retain a demonic appearance to frighten away negativity.

This phurba is made of wood and features subtle relief carvings and a beautifully encrusted patina. It measures 16.5" in height and 2" in width.
