Ethiopian Coptic Cross (#8)
Price: $65.00

For over 1600 years, Christian Ethiopians have worn neck crosses as a proud confession of their faith. The various styles are usually named after the town or province of origin in the Ethiopian highlands. There are two methods by which they are fabricated; the lost wax method or cut directly from a Maria Theresa coin. The oldest styles are of Greek or Latin design followed in age by the flared arm patterns. These show clear influence from the Coptic crosses of upper and lower Egypt. Others further developed a three-lobed form of decorative projections under celtic influence.
