Ceremonial Knife - Lega People - Congo - SOLD

Price: $0.00

The Bwami society unifies the Lega people and helps to maintain social control. The use of utensils and tools during Bwami ceremonies serves an important symbolic function. Since the Bwami promotes nonviolence, no actual weapons are allowed to be used during the rituals. For this reason, nonfunctional counterparts are made from wood, ivory, and bone. This knife is made from wood and features a carved head on the handle.
