Pendant (#7) - Dinka & Lotuko People - Sudan

Price: $295.00

The pendants were known amongst the Dinka as “orphan currency”. They were worn by the young who had lost their parents. Also worn by the Lotuko.
This chest ornament, or pendant, is made from hammered sheet copper. They often have decorative, circular indentations along the edges. It is thought that these pendants are protective in nature, as their shape is reminiscent of a shield or spear head. These pendants are simple yet elegant forms that make unique accent pieces or fine minimalist sculptures in their own rite.
