Slingshot - Baule People - Ivory Coast - Sold
Price: $0.00

Sling shots (called Potomo Waka)
or catapults are used amongst the
Baule people to hunt fruit bats
which are considered a delicacy.
Children use the slingshots to scare
birds away so they don’t eat the
family’s ripening millet stalks. For
play, it is used to see who can hit
the farthest milk can. The bicycle
tube strap has been removed so
that the carver’s artistry can be
enjoyed.
