Shield - Omo River Region - Ethiopia (5285)
Attributed to various Ethiopian tribal
groups in the Omo River region, these
shields are made of hippopotamus hide.
The designs on the shield are created
by placing the hide over a wood mould.
Shields, in addition to being used in warfare and ceremonies, also served as
8"D x 22.5" in Diameter
NOTE: When displayed on the included custom made stand, this piece reaches a height of 31"
