The Himba are a pastoral, nomadic people. They depend upon their goats and cattle.The proud Himba women take several hours each morning for beauty care. They make a cream consisting of butter- fat, ash & red ochre powder which not only gives their skin a reddish shine, it acts as a sunscreen and insect repellent. Married Himba women wear a leather necklace with the conch shell being a symbol of fertility.
